Other behaviour that may indicate sexual abuse is fear of a certain person or people. Neglect can include being dirty and smelly, a large appetite, low weight and also inappropriate dress such as wrong foot wear or clothing e. g in the winter. Many of the signs dont necessarily mean a child is neglected. If i was to recognise a sign or indicator of abuse i would need to know what steps to take if a pupil was to come to myself. I shouldnt let the child think they have beem ignored i should offer comfort and reassurance, showing them i have taken what has been said seriously. I should let them know i am there to help them and i can be trusted. I must stay calm and keep any emotions under control. Once the pupil has finished telling me, i should contact my supervisor and inform them of what i have been told.
